Founded in 1960, the society aims to encourage an interest in the history of Bury St Edmunds, with regular guest speakers and occasional outings to places of historic interest. The website also contains information and scans of the 'Jarman Collection', some 4000 glass photographic negatives taken in and around Bury St Edmunds between 1850 and 1914 and donated to the society.
